Here, we have the English translation of the 1864 book by the Frenchman Jean Mallat, "The Philippines: History, Geography, Customs, Agriculture, Industry, and Commerce of the Spanish Colonies in Oceana." This 1994 reprint by the Philippine National Historical Institute is hard-to-find. It is new although there is some yellowing on the dustjacket.
